Online Education
Online education clients and projects include:
- Southwest Missouri State University: Presented on state of K12 online learning and key issues to a gathering of educators and administrators considering how to implement online education in Missouri.
- Wisconsin and Illinois Virtual Schools, North Central Regional Education Lab, and Colorado Department of Education: Researched and co-wrote Keeping Pace with Online Learning: A Snapshot of State-Level Policy and Practice, looking at policies related to online education and making recommendations for sustainability.
- eCollege and North American Council for Online Learning: Developed tracks and speakers for the Virtual High School conference in 2003 and 2004, working with the VHS conference advisory board.
- Colorado State Legislature: As a consultant to the Colorado Department of Education, researched, wrote and presented a series of briefs on K12 online learning in Colorado for two committees of the state legislature; issues covered included costs and funding of online education, technology, quality of courses, and program management.
- Monterey Institute for Technology and Education: Researched availability and quality of online course content in post-secondary and high school online programs for this non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the availability of high quality online educational content.
- North American Council for Online Learning: Planned and facilitated meetings of the strategic planning committee and board of directors of this national K12 online learning association.
- The University of California College Prep Initiative: Researched and co-wrote The California Virtual School Report: A National Survey of Virtual Education Practice and Policy with Recommendations for the State of California, 2002, to help UCCP and the state of California consider issues in creation of a statewide online education program.
- Colorado Department of Education: Worked with the Colorado Department of Education’s E-Learning Task Force to create Findings and Recommendations for a Colorado Statewide Online Learning Program.
- Prometheus Course Management Platform (George Washington University): Conducted market research and business development for George Washington University’s Prometheus Course Management Platform.
- Assisted the Colorado Online School Consortium, and a group of schools and districts around the state, in creating a proposal to the Colorado Department of Education for development of a statewide online learning program, Colorado Online Learning.
- TextCentric: Helped this start-up company, started by a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, in business and operational planning to commercialize a digital educational content product.
